im alchemy.
A few years ago I was at a museum that had some old grimoires and alchemy books on display and translations to the pages posted by them. My favorite grimoire page was a spell for rain where the person would go outside with a bucket of water and pour it onto the ground, then proceed to pretty much yell at the clouds about ‘see its not hard!’. To date that is my favorite rain spell I have ever seen.
The Universe sends us exactly what we are ready for at the exact time we need it in our lives.
A few of my personal methods, and by no means a complete list.
three more ideas: black salt, witches ladders and war water. also, wearing/carrying strong protection stones, such as hematite, black obsidian, black tourmaline, amethyst, or tiger’s eye.
The most important part of being a witch, I’ve found, is meditation. Be aware. Be aware of your body. Be aware of your surroundings. Be aware of the smells in the air, the moister, the dry heat. Be aware of, but do not indulge. Note the emotion in the room. Observe it. Everything is connected and notice how it is broken down in front of you. The universe is billions of years old with the same amount of matter in it since time began. Everything is connected. Everything is the same higher energy broken down differently.
The more this is mastered, the easier spells come. The easier it is to know which direction is the quickest to work today. The easier it is to see people’s energy right in front of you. Reconnecting yourself allows the rest to fall into place.
I’ve been told my whole life to be aware of my surroundings, but always with a sense of fear. I was told to only look for threats and predators and for the first time in my life I am opening up to everything else.
I keep tellin’ y'all…
synthetic things are okay. it’s not always strictly necessary to have your witchcraft be ‘natural’– in fact, by its own nature, witchcraft is adaptable. it is malleable. your altar can be stones and herbs and pumpkin candles, your altar can be made of painted legos and animal hair and glass and metal. do not let anyone tell you that because you can’t strip the bark off a pine tree and boil it into your spell, your spell is invalid. Make do with what you have, strive for more, but don’t kill yourself over it.
yo, secret witches: if you have a library card, you can probably use some sort of e-library. my public library has access to multiple free databases where you can “borrow” e-books. i’m only on the first database and they’ve got like 10 pages of e-books in their “new age” section. i’ve seen stuff on numerology, tarot, i just borrowed a book called solitary seance–if you have a personal computer and don’t want to bring physical books home, this could be a neat resource for you.
